Shutter-priority - The device on some automatic cameras that allows the shutter speed to be set by the user. The exposure is then controlled by automatic changes to the aperture. Shutter-priority is useful when it is important to keep a minimum speed that will freeze movement. Alternatively, for instance, one may want to set a controlled amount of blur to convey the speed of a galloping horse. If stopping movement is critical, then some depth of field has to be sacrificed. See also Aperture-priority.
